What Are Check Valves
Check valves serve as self-activating safety valves that permit gasses and liquids to flow in a single direction in order to preserve the integrity and function of an overall fluid control system. Check valves are often found protecting pumps in liquid-based systems, as well as compressors in gas systems where sudden back flow may cause the workflow to shut down.
Applications
The primary purpose of check valves is to prevent product back flow, which can damage equipment or disrupt production. As such, check valves are commonly used as a backup in case of pump failure, to help compressors and reciprocating pumps function efficiently, and to help moderate system pressure. These applications make them a valuable asset for the refining, petrochemical, oil & gas, and other related industries.
